UPDATE! jULY 2014
Okay, it has been sometime, but here is the promised update from the final of Costa Rica. Phase 4 'Guatemala' R&R! 2 weeks of sightseeing and chilling. It was truly amazing and I will show it as always with more photos and less words....
Bus, taxi, plane, bus, taxi, walk (more than I would have liked!) but we finally arrived in Guatemala, Antigua. A lovely base for our tour of the country. Yes, this was a slight change to the planned road trip from Costa Rica due to the earthquake warnings in Nicaragua, which I am very happy to report did not happen.
Antigua....

Guatemala update!
I have spent the last couple of days in Tical, and it was amazing. Unfortunately I am not able to put any pictures on my blog as the only computer where I am staying does not accept my camera or USB. Oh well, I will post them as soon as possible (probably when I return to the UK at the weekend!).
What an amazing 15 weeks, I really can´t believe what I have achieved and seen. I will post lots more pictures on my blog so keep watching.....
bye for now and look out for the updates next week!

Welcome to Guatemala! I have now been here for 5days and it is truly amazing....
I have walked around a volcano and toasted marshmallows in the month old lava! taken a boat across a lake and stayed in a very nice complex on one of the more remote towns on the lake. Also watched one of the easter parades in Antigua where I have based myself inbetween traveling around Guatemala. Tomorrow I am off on my final adventure, upto Tikal to see the maya pyramids!!! Photo´s below of my adventure so far and the rest to follow when I return to Antigua early next week....
Sorry no photo´s yet!! I will post them as soon as poss.

My Raleigh Expedition is now at end! It has been an amazing experience and I have met so many amazing people along the way (venturers / Project Managers / FieldBase Staff and certainly not least many locals throughout Costa Rica). I have so many wonderful memories, all of which I will share with everyone on my return to the UK.....However for now I am off for a couple of weeks R&R!......
Starting with 2 days at the beach with the Raleigh Staff team and then I fly up to Guatemala on Saturday for a couple of weeks exploring and chilling and then finally back to the UK. Slight change to my original plans due to the high possibility of a huge earthquake in Nicaragua! Really hope it doesn't happen for their sake, but I have decided to be slightly cautious on this occasion and stay safe.

Finally able to update my blog! I have spent phase 2&3 in a rainforest / Jungle working on an environmental project. This has been very different to phase 1 on trek! Rather than write about the two phases day by day I will try and describe the project with lots of pictures and not too many words!!!
WATCH THIS SPACE....update to follow later today (Sunday 13/4//14)
The Local 'SODA' (cafe) and view!
the odd insect just hanging around...
Jungle Camp, which was home for 38 days......
A 'small' delivery of gravel for the trail! This was then bagged up by us, taken by quad and then placed on the track by us.....Now I have a full body workout with Trek and Environmental...
The local school, very welcoming and great fun. All 14 students (6 year groups) learn together in 1 classroom and with 1 teacher. But, what a view!
some more of the local wildlife....
Tenorio National Park.......where I spent 2 phases working on a 3.5km track helping to make it more accessible to see these amazing views....
The water is an amazing blue due to the sulphur from the volcano and the chemical reaction!
Also, a quick update on the rest of my expedition in Costa Rica and Central America...........
I will be here (Field Base) until Weds evening doing the final tidy up and goodbyes. Then I am off on a very well planned trip to explore Central America (Costa Rica / Nicaragua / El Salvador / Guatemala) for a couple of weeks all of which I will post on the blog and hopefully more often than I have been!
